Hey hey, I’m Mary.
I’m an actor who also
does voiceover.
I live, work, and study in
Atlanta, GA and mentor other actors through the Screen Artists’ Co-op.
Born the youngest of four in New Jersey to two native New Yorkers, I was a theater nerd and all-around artsy-smartsy kid who grew up (mostly) in beautiful Asheville, NC. I started acting at age 5, and continued performing in plays and improv in and outside of school until college, where I chose one of my other passions, English literature (I thought I might become a teacher or something “sensible”).
I wasn’t good at being “sensible”… I lived and worked in the UK, doing a short film or live performance here & there, eventually going to art school, studying graphic design in Boston at The Massachusetts College of Art. I have worked as a designer for almost two decades, but have always been happiest when performing.
The student was ready, so the teacher appeared – I met and studied acting for almost a decade with Jon Menick, an accomplished actor, filmmaker, photographer and teacher who studied with John Stix in NYC. A small group of us started Screen Artists Co-op with him and quickly landed agents, began booking work all over the southeast and even made a short film that showed at festivals. I also studied voiceover with a number of teachers, got my own mic, recorded some spots and continue to work and play with my voice.
My teenage dream brought me back to NY in 2019, where I dodged a pandemic and studied with Upright Citizens Brigade and Terry Schreiber. Family brought me to Atlanta in November of 2022, which has allowed me to teach at Screen Artists Co-op in Asheville, NC and carry on Jon’s legacy since his passing in June of 2022.
A huge fan of the weird, dark and dramatic, some highlights have been: flirting loudly in a 1920’s dance hall for Chusy Haney-Jardin’s Born in Bristol, killing my father with a frying pan in the indie feature The Evil Inside Her, making out with a lizard for Adult Swim’s Too Many Cooks, being directed for Discovery ID by David Bruckner (as Douglas Berger), and working with Amy Brenneman on the show Tell Me Your Secrets.
